Peplum: A Ruffle Attached to the Waist of a Jacket...
It all began in the 1940’s when women were joining the professional workforce. Although at the time it was a “man’s world”, these ladies kept their femininity about them by donning the most waist defining and curve exaggerating accent available. Peplums were on skirts, dresses, and most of all suit jackets. The peplum remained popular well into the 50’s followed by a 30 year hiatus.
